Registered
Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Alex
trained for five years at the University of Westminster's School of
Integrated Health in London, from where he graduated with a BSc (Hons)
degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture and a post-graduate
diploma in Chinese herbal medicine. As a practitioner of Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM), Alex adopts an entirely holistic approach
combining acupuncture treatment with Chinese herbal medicine, tuina
(Chinese massage), dietary therapy and exercise in order to achieve
the maximum therapeutic benefit according to the specific needs of
the individual patient.
In
addition to his private work, Alex also forms part of a busy and dedicated
team of TCM practitioners committed to the provision of complementary
healthcare within a community setting at an NHS clinic in south London.
Unique within the UK, this award-winning clinic receives referrals
from GPs and consultants alike for an increasingly broad range of
conditions and is at the forefront of research into the treatment
of common diseases with TCM. It is the sum of this valuable experience,
gained from working within a challenging NHS environment, that Alex
brings to his private practice so that he can provide real, positive
and lasting solutions to his patients' health concerns within the
practical framework of TCM.
Although
Alex practises mostly as a general health practitioner by treating
common digestive, dermatological, respiratory and musculo-skeletal
conditions, he has also developed a particular interest in the use
of TCM to improve women's health. More specifically, his interest
lies in how TCM can successfully resolve complex and increasingly
prevalent conditions such as infertility, painful periods and PMS,
menopausal syndrome and many other menstrual disorders. Within this
specialist field Alex has gained experience working alongside consultant
gynaecologists and obstetricians and regularly provides support for
expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy, as well as in the immediate
post-natal period.
Alex
is a member of both the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and the
Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM) on whose executive Council
he has sat as public relations coordinator. He regularly attends post-graduate
training seminars in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and lectures
undergraduate students on the University of Westminster's acupuncture
degree program. Alex is also a qualified massage therapist, holding
a professional diploma in therapeutic massage from the London College
of Massage.
