What is a Pilates Matwork Class?

A Matwork class is a complete body conditioning class that incorporates The Eight Principles of the Pilates Technique: Concentration, Breathing, Centring, Control, Precision, Flowing & Fluid Movements, Isolation, Routine.

The philosophy of Pilates believes in individual progress and non-competitive exercise, with an emphasis on stretching and strengthening muscles.
Pilates Matwork emphasizes use of the muscles in the " core" (all layers of abdominal, buttocks and back muscles), resulting in a stronger, longer and leaner body. Participants also enjoy an awareness of proper breathing technique, improved balance and coordination, improved posture, body alignment and body awareness and overall sense of well-being.
